Abstract:

In women, an infection-induced inflammation of the upper genital tract is known as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). The ovaries, Fallopian tubes, and/or uterus are all impacted by the illness. Usually, it starts in the lower genital tract and spreads upward. Sexually transmitted infections are linked to PID in the majority of cases. Pathogenic bacteria ascending from the vagina to the uterus, Fallopian tubes, and ovaries is the cause of pelvic inflammatory disease. Although the exact causes of the two disorders are unknown, recent research has indicated that inflammation and disruptions in the microbiota of the female reproductive tract play a role in developing both illnesses. This study was aimed and conducted with 751 patients in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Zliten Medical Center, Libya between January 2022 to October 2024 the age groups were categorized as 18-27, 28-37, 38-47, and 48-55 years old. The age group 18-27 is affected by 25.16%, 28-37 is affected by 36.21%, and with less percentage, and the age group 48-55 is affected by 14.11%. In our study, the reproductive outcomes among the women affected with PID are intrauterine pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, involuntary infertility, and voluntary infertility. Intrauterine pregnancy among women is about 34.35%, ectopic pregnancy is 18.10%, involuntary infertility is 28.09% and voluntary infertility is about 19.44%. Treatment is given as parenteral treatment and oral treatment, in both treatments three different regimens are followed according to the patients.
